Established in 2016, NISRC was founded by surgical specialty trainees within the Northern Ireland Deanery.
We quickly extended our membership to include surgeons at all levels of training from all regions of the country, participating in local and national audit projects.
In September 2017, we decided to invite medics from all specialties and training levels to become members, expanding our cohort and thus becoming a true collaborative representing all aspects of medical and surgical practice across Northern Ireland.
Membership provides opportunities to become involved in audit and research, developing key skills in these areas, as well as gaining experience of team work in a research setting. Work is published ‘on the behalf of the collaborative’, and all contributors are searchable on PubMed. The collaborative is also a platform to discuss and develop your own research ideas, and there are management and leadership opportunities for all levels of trainee.
